I submitted a question similar to this one a while ago and it was honorably dismissed. The topic is actually important to me and some other people I know, so I figured it wasn't worthless. I rewrote it, but it was dismissed again:

Do you prefer the toilet paper roll to be hung overhand (with the free end on the outside) or underhand (with the free end on the inside)?

The options were:

1. Overhand!
2. Underhand!
3. I don't care.
4. Other (bidet, metal ass, etc.)

Here is some of the user feedback we received:

There are ZERO questions similar to this one. I have answered/skipped them all. Perhaps I should have left out the 'metal ass', but come on, there are questions with more "offensive" content than that. Gah! How do any questions get through this process. I know there are people besides me who have a preference for the way the toilet paper roll is hung.

Lots of 'too similar' and 'offensive / worthless.'  Bullshit.

You're at your date's house for the first time. You excuse yourself to use the bathroom and while washing your hands, you notice more than one bottle of prescription psychiatric drugs in your date's name. How would this affect your feelings?

07:18 pm - transportation

Poll #896882 transportation

Assuming all these options were available in your area and could be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time, how would you prefer to commute to work on a regular basis?

human power (i.e. biking, walking, rollerblading)
5(62.5%)
personal vehicle (i.e. car, truck, motorcycle)
1(12.5%)
public transit (i.e. bus, train, ferry)
1(12.5%)
telecommute or otherwise work out of my home
1(12.5%)

One of the comments I got was "interesting but does it really have anything to do with matching?" and I'm like "um, yeah, maybe because I'd like an SO who will bike to work with me or take transit with me and who thinks that biking and transit are fun?". It has more to do with matching than Is making fun of someone for being thin any different from making fun of someone for being fat?, which I just got (hmm, depends on what you mean by DIFFERENT). Matching is generally about finding people with the kind of attitude, experiences, interests, and physical form you like, right? And this fails that how?

I think I realized earlier today that of the 9 questions I've submitted so far, 7 of them are related to transportation. Yeah, I spend a lot of time thinking about it :)

04:48 am - Pills!

0 for 32 and counting.

Poll #873213 oh really?

Do you like to take pills for fun?

Yes!
2(28.6%)
Now and then.
1(14.3%)
No.
4(57.1%)

The responses included this gem:
Uninteresting or too obscure for most people: No one "really" takes pills for fun. They take them for 'peer pressure" or because they have a problem. Fun is just an excuse.
There really needs to be a method of voting on the voters.

03:41 am - 0 for 31

Poll #868054 0 for 31

Which lifestyle best describes your level of involvement with technology (computers, Internet, gadgets) and your attitude toward it?

A wired life, and I'm fine with it.
4(57.1%)
A wired life, but I may like to unplug more.
3(42.9%)
An unplugged life, but I may like to plug in more.
0(0.0%)
An unplugged life, and I'm fine with it.
0(0.0%)

For the purposes of this question, assume all of these are related: is stuff like gaming, ren faires, fanfic, anime, cons, or cosplay a huge part of your life?

Yes!
3(42.9%)
No.
4(57.1%)
I don't know what any of those things are.
0(0.0%)

Question 2 got mostly "Too similar to other questions," along with "Assume these unrelated things are related. Now assume it's HUGE! How trifling." Which is, of course, precisely the type of nerd I am trying to filter the fuck OUT of my results.

I don't think it's interesting whether someone has ever been eating instant noodles for a week. Perhaps if the question were more general than just noodles it would be good.

oh, well. i am somewhat offended by that first one for some reason. i have eaten primarily instant ramen for a period of about three and a half weeks, and i don't even have plans to go to college!
also, i am perplexed by the fact that so many questions are rejected for being "too similar" when i have seen far too many excruciatingly repetitive questions.
